Mega Man 11 - First Impressions

Today Mega Man 11 released, and despite my busy day, I took some time out of my schedule to play through Block Man's stage. I found the game to be quite enjoyable. Admittedly, I haven't played anything referred to as a "bad" Mega Man game, but compared to the other games I've played, it's quite enjoyable. It seems a little easy, but I'm rusty and tried out the Classic mode. If I replay the game, I'll probably take it up a notch, just to see how it goes.
I got especially excited during the boss fight of the stage, when I saw something that completely changed the fight, but sadly, based on the reviews I read, that isn't really a regular thing. The most interesting review I've read thus far has actually come from Kotaku's Jason Shreier (his review can be found here), who pointed out how, even if this is great as a Mega Man game, the series really doesn't try to be anything beyond that any more, which is an excellent point on his part. He mentioned the idea of an open-world Mega Man game, which has my mind going in all sorts of directions, and I really want that.

This is just my basic thoughts, quickly typed out so I can get towards bed. I'm sure that I'll have a more rounded opinion after this week, but I just wanted to get this out today. If you want to see me check out more, I'll be streaming Saturday, October 6 at 2pm PST on twitch.tv/triforcep. Hope you stop by!
